Intimate Apparel : Latex & PVC Lingerie

Latex lingerie domination is the dominationistic attraction to people wearing latex intimate apparel. Rubber lingerie also, as latex is closely-related to rubber (the latter usually being thicker and less shiny, more matte). Latex or rubber dominationists sometimes refer to themselves as "Rubberists".

PVC lingerie is closely related to latex lingerie and refers to shiny clothes made of the synthetic plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

Latex can be used to make leotards, bodysuits, stockings and gloves, as well as most items that can be made from 'traditional' fabrics. Latex is also often used to make specialist dominationistic intimate apparels like hoods and rubber cloaks.

One reason why latex, and other tight shiny fabrics may be dominationised is perhaps that the intimate apparel forms a "second skin" that acts as a dominationistic surrogate for the wearer's own skin. Thus, wearers of skin-tight latex or PVC garments may be perceived by the viewer as being naked, or simply coated in a shiny substance like paint.

Latex and PVC lingerie can also be polished to be shiny and can also be produced in bright colours, adding further visual stimulus to add to the physical sensations produced by the material. The smell of latex rubber is also a turn-on for some rubber dominationists, and such intimate apparels are usually impregnated with chemicals to enhance the odour. Some rubberists also enjoy the idea of some fantasise about going out in public wearing domination attire.

A compelling reason that people are turned on by wearing rubber is its transformative abilities. As with any costume, a rubberist can imagine themselves having a new identity, especially one that permits a different code of behavior.

There are 3 ways to make latex easier to put on :

1. Use talc to reduce friction against the skin when putting the intimate apparels on; then, because stray talc is very visible against the rubber, wearers generally polish off any visible talc.
2. Use lubricant (or 'lube') which provides a slippy surface for the latex to glide over.
3. Chlorinate the rubber. This process does not affect non-metallic colours or strength.
